Bituminous roofing

Bituminous roofing began to be used more intensively for roofs at the beginning of the last century. Its basic raw material, bitumen, provides water impermeability, resistance to weather conditions, fire and mechanical loads, and dimensional stability.

Bituminous roofing was first used on flat roofs or roofs with a very low pitch, and after the Second World War, bituminous roofing sheets or so-called bituminous shingles also began to be produced.

Bituminous roofing or waterproofing with a mineral coating in rolls is a versatile roofing material that requires no maintenance. In construction, it is widely used for covering flat roofs on apartment blocks, houses, industrial buildings, etc. Bituminous felt with mineral coating is welded onto various substrates without screwing or nailing. As a result, the roof is completely watertight. It is therefore one of the most reliable options for flat roof construction.

On pitched roofs, bituminous shingles are most commonly used, although bituminous rolls can also be used. The biggest advantage of bituminous shingles is their low weight, from 3 kg/m² onwards, which makes them suitable for all types of buildings such as houses, canopies, garden sheds or garages. Due to their low weight, they are especially suitable for roof renovation. In some cases, they can also be installed over existing roofing. Bituminous shingles can also be installed on different roof shapes, with different pitches, from 3° to 90°, and can also cover uneven surfaces.

Bituminous shingles are available in a wide variety of shapes, from rectangular to multi-sided, and in different dimensions and colours that do not fade over the years. Installing bituminous roofing is also extremely simple. Depending on the manufacturer and quality of the bituminous shingles, a 25-year warranty on bituminous shingles is also possible.

Isola

Isola

Isola shingles are made on a glass fibre carrier. Installed on a wooden roof surface, they provide a safe and functional roof for several decades! The combination of glass fleece and dense, flexible bitumen makes the product strong and at the same time very flexible. Large self-adhesive surfaces with a special strong adhesive ensure a durable and watertight roof. With the help of pressure and heat, Isola bituminous shingles bond firmly and therefore successfully withstand storms and rain. Slate granules provide protection against UV radiation and mechanical loads.

Bituminous roofing has been present on the Slovenian market for a very long time and has retained an important share among all roofing materials. The use of bituminous roofing is extremely suitable for complex roofs, as the most demanding shapes can be formed from the basic sheet and all pitches can be covered, from the smallest (3°) to vertical (90°). For this reason, for complex roofs it is more affordable compared to other roofing materials, since there is no need for additional elements, which are always very expensive and, on complex roofs, often cost more in total than all basic roofing elements.
