Thermal insulation
Unlike decades ago, much more attention is paid today to roof insulation. Especially because of attic living spaces, the roof must be sufficiently thermally insulated and waterproofed. High-quality thermal insulation prevents heat from entering in summer and heat loss in winter.
We offer thermal insulation from various manufacturers for flat roofs and pitched roofs. We offer insulation made of various materials, such as glass wool, stone wool, wood insulation, PIR insulation, EPS and XPS insulation.
Stone wool
Stone wool or mineral wool is a classic insulation material used in construction, for sealed systems of flat and pitched roofs with used or unused surfaces. Of course, it has many advantages, such as low thermal conductivity, chemical neutrality, high melting point and, above all, non-combustibility. In addition, it is also a sound insulator and affordable.
The downside is sensitivity to moisture – 100% watertightness on the outside and vapour tightness on the inside must be ensured for a long service life. Strict safety measures are also important when working with it if it comes into contact with the eyes and respiratory tract.
Glass wool
Glass wool, like stone wool, is thermal and sound insulation. It can be used in rolls, or as fibres for loose fill or blowing. It is resistant to mould, but only as long as it does not get wet. Again, watertightness on the outside and vapour tightness on the inside are important, because in the presence of moisture it can settle, which can cause thermal bridges. In such a case, replacement is required as soon as possible because it is no longer functional.
When working with it, glass fibres can irritate the eyes, skin and respiratory system, so caution and protective measures are necessary.
PIR thermal insulation
PIR thermal insulation consists of rigid polyurethane foam boards with excellent thermal conductivity and usability for insulating floors and ceilings, flat roofs, pitched roofs, walls, ventilated facades, underground garages and basement ceilings. Thus, it is used in construction, shipbuilding or vehicle superstructures. Due to the excellent efficiency of the measured insulation value, a thinner layer of this insulation is required, leaving more interior space available; compared to other insulation materials, it can still meet the requirements of the Eco Fund.
The insulation systems themselves remain cool even when it is hot outside. They do not absorb condensation or moisture. Installation is simple, fast and efficient due to the low weight. Since it is lightweight insulation, it also reduces the weight of the roof.
Styrofoam or polystyrene
STYROFOAM or POLYSTYRENE is produced from petroleum using a special blowing process, which creates small beads.
EPS (expanded polystyrene) and XPS (extruded polystyrene – Styrodur) are solid and resistant. Graphite, aluminium or carbon can be added to them, which further improves their insulation properties. Thermal insulation performance varies according to board thickness.
Among the best properties are good insulation performance (does not absorb water), lightweight material, easy installation, dimensional stability, moisture resistance and durability. On the other hand, this is also a negative property because it represents an environmental burden. It is also highly flammable.
Eco insulation
Over the years, and with increasing ecological awareness, natural materials that have been used for centuries are returning to construction. Such as wood, clay, straw, hemp, coconut, sheep wool, lime and others, which are friendly to health and the environment.
Straw, for example, is not only an excellent insulator but also environmentally and health friendly. However, it is sensitive to moisture and is not fire-safe. We practically cannot do without wood. Boarded ceilings extend the phase shift of heat or cold transfer into the building through the roof. Wood fibres can also be mechanically blown in or poured in. Cellulose, recycled from old paper, is used in a similar way.
Often, the type and method of using natural resources depend on the individual region.
We represent
KNAUF INSULATION offers thermal insulation for several applications, such as flat roofs, sloped flat roofs, renovation of flat roofs with higher loads, and green solutions.
Products for flat roof insulation include SMARTroof Top, SMARTroof Thermal, SMARTroof Hard. These are rigid insulation boards intended for thermal, sound and fire protection of flat roofs with a substructure made of concrete or profiled sheet metal. They are used according to the required compressive strength.
For sloped flat roofs, SMARTroof Top CTF1 slope board is offered, which avoids the need for slope concrete and sufficient static loading of the structure, and enables a simple rainwater drainage system.
Unifit and NaturRoll Plus glass wool are used for pitched roof insulation and drywall construction.
For green solutions, a complete system called URBANSCAPE is available.
PUREN offers extensive solutions in the field of construction, with simple processing and exceptional usability.
It offers insulation systems for steep, flat and sloped roofs, insulation material for floors and facades, as well as special products for parking areas in parking garages and for building protection and roof renovation.
Puren insulation boards provide even protection against heat and cold. Boards made of PU rigid foam are completely free of biocides, harmless to health and allergy-friendly. Therefore, Puren materials meet the requirements of the Puren life certificate. Puren insulation materials also do not allow condensation to develop. Therefore, the performance of the boards remains unchanged and thus protects the entire roof. Since a vapour-permeable membrane is already installed on the boards, an additional work step is saved. The boards are light; even with solar elements, the total weight is still lower than the weight of boards made, for example, of wood fibres.
Recycling is also possible – processing into a new functional material – Purenit.
Insulation for pitched and flat roofs made of PIR/PUR foam can be protected on both sides with foil or special felt. The sides are straight or with self-adhesive grooves.
They also have solutions for green roofs with Puren FD-XL boards.
KINGSPAN is a manufacturer of roof and wall panels and PIR insulation itself for pitched and flat roofs. It is a leading global manufacturer of advanced insulation and building envelope solutions, whose mission is to accelerate emissions reduction. PIR boards can be faced on both sides with composite foil or mineral fleece. On the upper side with a vapour-permeable membrane with an adhesive overlap, or according to the application.
They meet fire safety requirements (FM approval).
ERYAP Turkey is our newer supplier of stone wool under the BONUS STONE WOOL PREMIUM R brand. These are high-density boards for use in flat and pitched roof systems where resistance to walking for occasional maintenance is also required. They provide high sound, fire and thermal insulation performance for buildings. They can be installed on profiled trapezoidal sheet metal or a concrete structure. They are used for insulating new buildings and renovating existing buildings.
On request, they also offer stone wool for other applications, such as facades under the BONUS STONE WOOL PREMIUM F brand, for sound and thermal insulation that ensures well-insulated, fire-resistant facades.
ROCKWOOL stone wool is the only one on the market with dual-density stone wool boards. The outer layer with higher density provides better mechanical properties, while the inner layer with lower density improves thermal insulation properties. It provides elasticity and better mechanical characteristics for facades or roofs and enables a durable and efficient solution for the entire service life of the building.
It is fire-resistant, sound-insulating, has low thermal conductivity, is water-repellent and at the same time vapour-permeable. It is also chemically neutral and resistant to ageing and decay. It is intended for buildings and industrial plants and covers several segments, such as flat roofs, pitched roofs and attics, floors and partition walls, contact and ventilated facades, industrial and technical insulation, and fire protection of building structures.
URSA manufactures products made of mineral glass wool and extruded polystyrene for thermal and sound insulation and fire protection. Their use permanently reduces the energy needs of a building and significantly improves living comfort. Thermal insulation made of URSA GLASSWOOL mineral glass wool is the optimal solution for ensuring a pleasant indoor climate in buildings. It is a material harmless to health. Elastic glass fibres provide the optimal combination of thermal and sound protection. URSA GLASSWOOL mineral glass wool is non-combustible according to European classification, class A.
