Fiber-cement roofing has been used as roof covering since the end of the 19th century. Former asbestos-cement sheets, which contained asbestos that was extremely harmful to health, have been replaced by newer, more modern and health-safe fiber-cement sheets. Such sheets belong to lighter types of roofing.
